WHAT IS THE PHOTOGRAPHY SCAVENGER HUNT?
The Photography Scavenger Hunt is a fun way to stretch your photography and creative skills alongside hundreds of other Scavengers from around the globe. But it is so much more than that. We are a tribe of supportive, inspirational, and amazing people that are always looking for more amazing people to add to the fold.
All skill levels are welcome, all cameras are welcome. Film, digital, mobile, point & shoot, on up to large format photography. There are no limits.
Round 27 is Complete!
Congratulations to Rita Zietsma the Overall Champion. This was a fantastic round full of creativity and talent – and so many Scavengers who did all 10 words. Congratulations everyone.

Why is the Photography Scavenger Hunt so special?
It’s the feeling of US. We support each other’s journey in becoming better photographers, better artists.
We met online, but we are so much more than that.
We are a tribe, a family.
If a picture is worth 1000 words, then this video is a book on why so many love the Hunt, and keep coming back each round.
We have a private Scavenger Community for past and present Hunters.
Number of Photos (approximately)
We aren’t just virtual friends, we are flesh and blood friends as well. We’ve had two Meetups in Las Vegas, and another large one is being planned in Orlando later this year. In addition to the “official” large ones, many of us have had mini and regional meetups as well.
THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN
The Scavenger Hunt wouldn’t be what it is without some tireless people behind the scenes. Lauri Novak is the ringleader of the show (taking over from the founder Chrysta Rae several rounds ago). In addition to Lauri’s vision, there are a fantastic group of people nicknamed the Dream Team. They help Lauri gather the photos, follow up with Scavengers with any problems with submissions, streamline the process and so much more.
I AM LAURI – I AM AN ARTIST
Who am I? Many of you know me a little I suppose from G+ over the last several years. I’m a photographer. I’m an artist. Photography is my passion.
Sharing my passion, helping others learn and find their own paths is something else that I love to do. It’s taken me a while to get to this point but I am finally taking this step! This is a work in progress, but running this community has been a step in the right direction.
I live outside of Chicago. I quit my “real” job on December 31, 2018, to focus on my own work, selling my art and mentoring others along the way. I am married and have a hubby who is a massage therapist. (No…it’s not massages anytime I want as you might think. Besides, I’m a horrible patient.) Anyway, this is his 2nd career. We are both very driven and passionate about what we are doing and both have the need to help others. I’m also a stepmom to 25-year-old Ryan. He lives with us half the time and brings us a ton of joy. Even though he is 24/7 care and sometimes a lot of work and/or can try my patience, he makes us laugh almost every day.
So, that’s me in a bit of a nutshell. I’m a free spirit, wanderer, explorer at heart and still go off on adventures when I get the chance.
Creative fun pushes me to find new ways of seeing with editing. We’re all here to learn and grow, create, encourage and support each other.
I have been part of this crazy hunt since Day 1. It has been an incredible platform for learning, growing and meeting the most amazing community of people. The people are the reason I offered to take this on. I’m excited to see where we can go with this new platform, our own website and how we can build this into an even more beneficial platform for all.
The Dream Team
Hi! I’m Liz! In my day job I work as a Library Media Director managing three school libraries, overseeing technology deployment and currently building the district’s new website. I also recently purchased a home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I have a golden retriever puppy names Baxter and a Main Coon cat name JoJo.
I’m just a hobby photographer who joined the hunt in round 7 and I don’t remember when I became part of the dream team, but it has been many, many rounds that I’ve had a blast helping out and collecting photos. I love being part of the hunt and have a lot of awesome memories from it. Creatively, it helps me shoot because it allows me to focus and always pushes me to try new techniques, think-outside-the box and make me get outside and shoot! My favorite part is all of our hangouts and spending time with scavengers from all over world! Spending time with scavengers has given me some of the greatest laughs over the last few years and I’m so happy that the hunt will survive off of G+.
