Privacy Policy

The Photography Scavenger Hunt respects your privacy and we are committed to protecting it.

Information you volunteer:

We collect your email, and if you provide it, name and country on our email signup form via MailChimp. This information is used to communicate with you about Scavenger Hunt news.

We use a similar MailChimp form when you sign up for a Hunt. Your name and email are required to invite you to the Scavenger Hunt Community.

Starting with Round 27, there will be a small fee for each round, if you choose to pay online we use PayPal as a Secure Payment Gateway. If you wish, you may also create an account on our website, but this is optional. The Scavenger Hunt will not see your credit card or other payment information.

Also starting with Round 27 we may collect information via Ninja Forms during the signup process. This information is used to collect the names and email of those signing up. That information will be transferred to MailChimp to communicate with you.

When you comment on a post or photo, we do request some information to protect against spammers. This information is not retained.

If you participate in a round, we use WooCommerce to manage products.

Information that is automatically collected:

We use Google Analytics anonymous data collection to view traffic on our website. We use this information to monitor for problems, see what’s popular, what region visitors are from, and help improve visitor experience.

How we protect your information:

We do our best to protect your sensitive personal information.

We use an SSL Certificate to help protect information you send between your device and our website.

We use PayPal for secure checkout transactions.

We use MailChimp to securely store your contact information for communication.

Why we collect information, how we share it, and how long we keep it:

We collect information to communicate with you, and process transactions on our website.

Anonymous web traffic may be kept for up to 3 years.

We keep purchase and account information for a minimum of 7 years, and up to 10. (for accounting/tax purposes)

We keep email contact information on our email provider until you unsubscribe, or we change providers.

Blog or Image comments may be kept for an indeterminate length.

Data Security and International Transfers:

The Scavenger Hunt and it’s servers are based in the United States, however we do use Cloudflare which may serve you information from other locations.

We have implemented measures to secure your personal information from accidental loss and access from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure both during transfer and storage.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where you have chosen a password for access to certain parts of our Website, you are responsible for keeping this confidential and using a strong password.

Unfortunately transmission and storage of information via the internet is not completely secure. We do our best to protect your personal information, but we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to our Website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Website.

Your California Privacy Rights

California Civil Code Section § 1798.83 permits users of our Website that are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please send an email to [email protected]

E-commerce:

We offer goods and services for sale on this site via WooCommerce. To avoid learning your credit card or other payment information we have partnered with PayPal to securely process your payment. As such we never learn of nor store your payment information.

Payments for signing up for a Round of the Scavenger Hunt are non-refundable.

Comments:

The Scavenger Hunt has always been a place of positivity and learning. We reserve the right to remove comments that go against this. Please always feel free to ask questions, there are no dumb questions.

Intellectual Property:

This website contains intellectual property owned by the Scavenger Hunt, as well as participants. Our logo was graciously designed by Mark Rodriguez. Artist’s names are noted in the photo details. We welcome sharing of our website, posts and pages, but each photographer retains the copyright to their image.

We may update this policy from time to time by updating the version on this page. You should check this page occasionally to identify any updates.
