2025 Great Scavenger Meetup

Sacramento CA

Friday, April 25 – Sunday, April 27, 2025

I'm in!

Where:

Delta King Hotel

It’s not just any hotel – it’s a nearly 100 year old paddlewheel boat! There’s so much history, charm, and quirkiness with this boat. It is not like any other hotel you’ve been to.

It’s docked along the Old Town Sacramento waterfront, a short walking distance to the places we’ll visit as well as many other charming places to visit on your own.

Activities:

  • Check-in and Kickoff Breakfast Friday Morning
  • Photography Workshops
  • Tour of California Railroad Museum
  • Tour of Crocker Art Museum
  • Weekend Mini Scavenger Hunt
  • Time to visit with fellow Scavengers

Getting There:

By Plane:

  • Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is very easy to fly in and out of. Once there, you may rent a car, take public transport, taxi, ride share, and/or coordinate with fellow Scavengers. Check out the airport’s list of transportation options.
  • Fly into SF Bay Area. Sometimes it’s cheaper to do this and then rent a car – especially if you were planning needing a car anyway. Oakland is closest, followed by SFO and then San Jose. Don’t forget to factor in rush hour(s) traffic delays into your timing.

By Train:

By Automobile:

  • Sacramento is located where Interstate 80 and 5 meet. If driving from east of California, do watch the weather. It’s not unheard of for there to be traffic delays or road closures crossing the Sierras that time of year. Come prepared for that!

Did we mention the boat? It will be set on an historic paddle-wheel boat nearly 100 years old!

Group lodging rates on the Delta King will be available closer to the event, but will likely range from $170-$250/night. Please note than most rooms only have one queen bed. Either be ready to book as soon as we get the group rates, or be really good friends if you plan on sharing a room.

There are other lodging options in the area if you prefer a more traditional room or want to use travel points.

Price is per person. Cancellations prior to 6 weeks before the event will be refunded at full cost.

*Event price does not include lodging, travel, or meals other than the Welcome Breakfast

We encourage people to sign up as soon as possible even though April may seem like a long way off. Getting an accurate count of the number of people coming will help us plan events better and place deposits sooner. We hope ALL Scavengers can come!

Other Activities:

Sacramento itself has a lot to do and place to go. It’s also near so many other tourist attractions – human built and nature made. If you want to extend your trip, we’ll be putting together a list of additional places to see in Northern California. I’m sure no matter how long the list is, Scavengers will chime in with even more places to go.
