HYGGE
“Hygge is about having less, enjoying more; the pleasure of simply being.
It is generous and celebratory, a way to remember the importance of the simple act of living itself.”
― The Book of Hygge: The Danish Art of Living Well
Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is often translated to English as “cozy”. And that’s definitely a part of it. But hygge is also broader than that – it’s enjoying the small things, stopping to smell the roses, and being welcoming to others. It’s preparing a home cooked meal together as a family or a group of friends. Perhaps it can be thought of as the Scandinavian version of Mindfulness.
And yes – it’s also about appreciating a warm fire or snuggling under a blanket on a cold winter day or snuggling with a special someone on a peaceful beach.
